These days Cyber attacks have increased many folds. No one is safe on internet. Hackers, Cybererrorists or whatever you call them! Are growing and even doing the best to make malicious networks worldwide. Nowadays online threats have increased drastically. I remember, last time’s survey I read that it was found that Cyber attacks have nearly doubled in the last year. Each day user faces new viruses and Trojans in his Computic life. Each time while using Net-banking or accessing social accounts on networks such as Facebook, Twitter they get into a dilemma that whether they are safe or not. Even while purchasing stuff online they get worried about the credit card details as we fear some hacker might steal the information. Cyber attacks can be of various types such as stealing account information, credit card information, hacking computers, email accounts, etc. These attacks make us think that we are not really safe on
internet. So, is there a way to protect our self online?

Cyber Security

After listening about so many attacks, you might be thinking that only possible solution to it is that we should stop using our credit card online and should close all are accounts , but is running from these things a solution? No! If you are a daily reader of our blog, then may remember that CERT issued high alert for increasing Cyber Attacks in April. So, to help you, our Editor came up with an article “How safe a ‘link’ is?” in which he told how to check a link properly, then later on a guest came up with a post in which he gave Tips for Staying Safe when Buying Online. So, today after such a long time I managed to come online and was free enough so giving you tips to be safe on Internet! So here we go!

Never give your full name, address, or phone number to person claiming you have won a lottery, don’t ever reply to such emails they are all fraud. You cannot win anything for free so use your brain and dont reply to such emails, they are just a part of online scam.

Use genuine software, a Windows-cracked version of software are themselves a kind of virus so don’t use cracked software. Go for genuine, stop piracy!

Install a good anti virus, firewall and anti-spyware so that your computer is protected from most common virus and Trojans. You can use All in one protection software which provide all these stuff. Example of such software is Kaspersky total protection or Bitdefender total protection. You can also download Site Advisor like small apps, which are free and would work well for sure in helping you to check-know if a link is safe to visit or not?

Also keep your anti virus, other software and Windows updated as new viruses and threats are surfacing every day and these updates provide essential protection against these threats.

Change your account password regularly, keep changing your password every month and so.

Try not to use social services such as Facebook and Twitter and your email accounts in cybercafes, though most of you do this. So, if you even do never intentionally or by-mistake do ‘Remember me’ while providing password and after loging out/moving from cyber don’t forget to delete cookies and history from your browser (as hackers can even hack your account via cookie stealing)

Most of the computers in cybercafe are infected with viruses and other malwares, so avoid using your accounts on those computers.

Don’t enter your account details in front of anyone else they might see your password.

Last, but not the least always use your brain before doing anything and try to remain
updated about various new threats and malwares by reading online journals and magazines.

Just by following these simple rules and advices, you can remain safe on internet and do you what you want!

In last post we talked about three-free Web applications that won’t let anyone get bore and Falling Sand is one and best of them. It’s a great game to play if getting bore and the best thing about it is we can make (actually draw) anything just like we do Microsoft Paint.

Last night while playing it I felt that it could be easily used to create ‘Cool Effected’ images without any Photoshop work. I tried it myself, created an image of a boy frustrated by noise and even published it on Facebok profile. I got many good comments from my friends about the image so, found the trick worth sharing with others.

How to create?

Before getting started, you need to have an access to these:

Online Image Editor tool.

7Capture, any other desktop capturing tool would work too.

Falling Sand game (of course!)

Steps to create image:

Visit Falling Sand’s home page.

Draw any face, character or whatever you like to.

Face Drawn

Once you have downloaded 7Capture too, take a snapshot of the screen (I suggest you that to use it because it’s one of the best and gives a good revolution image, Although you can capture screen shot using ‘Print’ key and pasting it into Paint).

Now it’s time to save the taken screen shot and upload it to Online Image Editor.

After uploading to the editor, you have to first crop the main portion of the image so that your browser wouldn’t be visible and after that click on Edit -> Colors and click on the ‘Invert’ option. It will invert the image and give it a neat effect.

Inverting

That’s all! Your image is created. If you want to add text and other effects you can try the options available on the site.

Here’s the final image created:

Final Image

Try this yourself! It’s cool and do share your images with me.

Ever wondered how to make your keyboard light blink like disco lights or glow in a sequence like Diwali lights glow? You can do this by just writing a simple Visual Basic script. Don’t worry I will provide the script, and all you have to do is copy and paste. That’s it and you can turn your ordinary keyboard into disco lights enabled keyboard.

Copy the following script into a notepad, then save that file with an extension “.vbs” (Visual Basic users may already be familiar with it). After that just double click on the new file, with a script like icon and you can see the magic, lights will start glowing in a sequence or randomly.

For random glowing of lights

Set wshShell =wscript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
dowscript.sleep 100wshshell.sendkeys "{CAPSLOCK}"wshshell.sendkeys "{NUMLOCK}"wshshell.sendkeys "{SCROLLLOCK}"loop

For glowing in sequence

Set wshShell =wscript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")dowscript.sleep 200wshshell.sendkeys "{CAPSLOCK}"wscript.sleep 100wshshell.sendkeys "{NUMLOCK}"wscript.sleep 50
wshshell.sendkeys "{SCROLLLOCK}"loop

To end this disco of lights, you need to end a process called “wscript.exe”, for ending the process open Task Manager and end process the required process.
Enjoy, enjoy the disco!

In spite of developing technologies designed to safeguard user privacy and security while online, websites continue to be compromised and many computer users are afraid to purchase from online stores. No one will deny that risks lurk online, but by acting sensibly, you can still enjoy the rewarding experience of online shopping. Here are 10 tips that will help you be safe and secure while buying online.

Pay attention to how you pay: By utilizing payment tools like PayPal, you can protect yourself from having to give out your credit card information to merchant websites. You can still fund your purchases with your credit card, but fewer digital eyes will be watching.

Avoid paying for online purchases with money orders or cash: You might be able to get a better price for an item on the Web if you pay with a money order, but you have to be prepared to lose your money since you won’t have any means to get your money back should you never receive the products or services you ordered from the merchant.

Shop only on secure websites: While many legitimate companies may operate without a secure site to save money, you should only make financial transactions from sites that have SSL security. Usually you can tell if you’re on a secured site if you see a padlock icon in your browser or if the address in your browser’s address bar begins with “https.” A secured site will encrypt communications between your computer and the merchant site, making it difficult for anyone to intercept your information.

Beware of scam and imitation sites: Scammers will build sites that look like major retailers to trick you into sending in your personal information. Again, look in your address bar and make sure that the address matches the store where you are shopping. If in doubt, either call the store or go somewhere else.

Buy only from online stores that post contact information and policies: Most of the time, reputable credit card processing agents require a merchant to post contact information and sales, shipping, return, and privacy policies on their site. If you don’t see this information, proceed with caution. Some companies don’t want a lot of phone calls and they don’t want customers coming to their office, but keeping their whereabouts secret keeps you in the dark should questions with your order arise.

Watch out for shipping and handling fees: Oftentimes an online retailer will post low prices, but will slam you on shipping and handling fees, making their items more expensive. Protect yourself from this kind of fraud by viewing a merchant’s shipping and handling policy prior to ordering.

Avoid using your debit card for online purchases: Most debit cards are linked to a bank account, so if your information gets in the wrong hands, you could be left penniless while trying to get the issue resolved.

Don’t buy from unsolicited email: Sometimes email will look like it’s coming from a reputable source, but they are actually scams. If a great deal from a store you know shows up in your inbox, be careful before clicking on any of its links.

Buy from stores that are in your country: It’s really nice that people can sell internationally with ease, but buying from a seller outside your country leaves you open to loss. Laws inside your country can serve to protect you from being ripped off, but you have little recourse should you be exploited by an international entity.

Keep records: Print out your order and order confirmation as well as any email correspondence with a seller. You could even print out the product image and description for the things you ordered. This way you have documentation should the item you receive not match the item you ordered.

As more business is done online, more scammers will be out there trying to make a buck. If you proceed with healthy caution, you will find that you can shop safely, securely, and simply by exercising reasonable caution as described above.

All are getting mobile geeks today may because of the effect of the “Idea’s ‘Save paper, use mobile’ advertisement or the Nokia’s new study” whatever the reason may be, like all of them I am too getting. Now the most important gadget in my life without which I can’t even live is my mobile – Sony Ericsson w910i. I was recently Playing with it during my trip to India recently. To escape my boredom and for a kind of Distraction or “Support”, depending on what you call.

Someone having advanced knowledge on mobile phones, not meaning technically, but about the model releases, etc. Must be knowing that a Sony Ericsson W910i/W595/W760 and maybe some more phones cannot use the Front Camera even though it is present, for making a Video or Taking a picture when there is no Video Call currently going on! So anyone as such must be Sony Ericsson have kept it disabled as not to be used when there is no video call going. I wonder what is the reason behind it, but it is not available.

When I was simply playing around the phone menu’s, I came across a set of Sub Menu that I never came across. Let me inform you that, I don’t use the Video Calling feature in my phone. So these set of menus were in the video call menu. In such a way that even a Video Calling user most probably might not have noticed as well.

So after some thinking I discovered that the Front Camera of W910i and other similar phones CAN take a Video Recording of around 30 seconds. There are some Cons in it. But anyway I say my phone can record video using its Front Camera when there is no Current Video Call going on even though SE says it as “Impossible”.

So here is what I did

Go to “Contacts”

Pick Any Contact and press “Options”

Press “Make Video Call”

On the “Video Call failed” dialog box, press “send Video msg”

Behold ! now you can see yourself using the Front Camera

Press the “record” button and record……

After the Video has been recorded, save it and you will notice an MMS dialog box

Close the MMS dialog box and “Save” it

Now you can see the Video you recorded on your Memory Card or Phone Memory depending on your Basic Camera Settings (i.e. rear camera)

Enjoy! Sony Ericsson It is possible No bounds, No Limitations

PS: Make sure 3G is Switched OFF to “encounter” the Video Call Failed.

Have you ever thought of what your website says about you and your business? If your answer is “No”, then you should start thinking about it. In the online world your website is the only way by which your customers can interact with you and learn about your products. Therefore, the importance of having a great website cannot be ignored. Part of having a great website is the impression that your potential customers get from visiting the site. This can assist in influencing them in online campaigns and can determine your success and the amount of revenue your website generates.

What your visitors think about you and your business depends on your website. This article will help you in determining what your website reveals about you and your business to your customers.Color-Scheme: – Believe it or not, your website’s background colors can tell your customers a lot about your attitude. According to a study on color schemes: Red means you are confident and know what your customers want, Blue is the color of trust which means you care a lot about your customers, Yellow is the Color of warmth and happiness which means you are reliable, Green means you are fun loving person, but this color is mainly used on websites that are owned by environmentally friendly organizations and lastly, White means you are always open to new ideas.

Absence of Testimonials: – If your websites don’t contain any testimonials from your previous clients then it gives signals that you are not reliable enough or that old clients were not happy with your service or that you are very new to business. More testimonials you will add to your website and thus allow more people to contact you or want to work for you.

Adding Lots of Content: – If your website contains a lot of content, which is of no use for your visitors, then it means that you don’t know how to express yourself. Adding a lot of useless content also implies that you can’t differentiate between important and not so important things for your visitors.

Excessive use of “I” and “We”: – If you are using words like “I” and “we” too many times in your sales copy, then it means that you only want to tell your visitors about yourself or your products and are not interested in what they need and how they can solve their problems. Customers are not interested in knowing how great your products are, they just want to know how those products can solve their problems.

Tip: How to start an affiliate marketing.

Non-User-Friendly: – A website, which is not easy to use or requires a user to install some software to run it properly gives the impression that you gave priority to your convenience and don’t care about your customers and visitors to your website. You are assuming that the individuals who come to your website already have the required software installed on their browsers.

Poor Layout: – Poor layout or navigational structure makes the process difficult for your users when searching for information. This can show your customers and visitors that you don’t know how to organize things correctly and can make your business appear poor to others.

Broken Links: – When a user clicks on link and lands on an Error 404 page or sees a “page does not exist message”, then it shows that you are careless in your work and can make you seem too busy with your current business and not available to handle new clients.

Incomplete Contact Information: – Incomplete contact information on your website says that you don’t want people to contact you or you are trying to hide something and not a trustworthy business. If you are planning to make some changes in your web blog or site, then you can give a try to Go-gulf, which is a web design company in Cairo and provides high quality website development and logo designing services in various areas of Middle-East.

If you remember couple of days back I posted same post in Learn WordPress in three days series, I am re-posting this post because that post was a bit confusing and readers were not able to understand it.

To install WordPress MU on your Windows computer you need to create local server, Xampp For Windows can be used to create it. Download it and after downloading run the installer. When it comes to the installation options page, select Install Apache and MySQL as a service. When your installation gets finished open your web browser and type http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ in the address bar.

Now you need to create a database for WordPress MU installation. To create a database click on “Create New Database” field, enter a name for your database and press the create button.

After creating database you need to configure you Windows for WordPress MU. Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc and open the file “Hosts” with notepad and add – 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain in the end.

Now your Windows is ready for WordPress MU installation. Just download the latest version of WordPress MU and extract the folder as it is in Xampp/htdocs directory. After extracting open this link in your web browser – http://localhost.localdomain/wordpress-mu. There you should see a WordPress MU installation page (select sub directories not sub domains. This will save you plenty of trouble later on.) Now enter the database info you created –

Database name – enter the name of the database you have created.

Database user – type “root” in that field.

Password – just leave it blank, please don’t enter anything in that field.

Databse Host – localhost

Table prefix – wp_

Done! now a success page will come, copy your password from that page, log-in and edit your profile and click on save button.

How to install Buddy Press on Mu?

Download Buddy Press from here, extract buddypress folder as it is and upload it to local server (C:\xampp\htdocs\wordpress-mu\wp-content\plugins) and activate from plug-ins page. After activating it from plug-ins, page move buddy press themes to bp- theme directory.

BuddyPress Directory

Done! Browse the BuddyPress themes directory and select a theme that matches your needs and site content. You download theme for free from this link.

I faced some problems while installing it, so thought to share the problems (with their solutions) -

Installation struck at 82% – I inserted Live CD into CD drive and installed Ubuntu inside my Windows Vista Ultimate. I rebooted the system and boot manager was showing two OS – Ubuntu and Vista, without wasting a second I clicked on Ubuntu. Till 81% everything went fine, but when it reached 82% it got stuck when there was a message “checking mirrors”. After wasting my 20 minutes (trying to solve it) finally I got a solution.

Solution -

I simply turned off my router for 10 minutes and everything went fine.

Problems I faced on first start up -

MP3 Decoder issue – After some help of ubuntu forum, finally Ubuntu was up and running fine, then I decide to play music. I clicked on places > 62.9 GB media > browsed my song folder and clicked on my favourite song. Woo! music player was showing that you need to have MP3 decoder plug-in to play songs, I searched MP3 decoder in Ubuntu packages and nothing was there. I kept on searching .. At last after 5-6 minutes I found two plug-ins for MP3. The download and installation took two-three minutes, now I was able to play songs (at last!).

Wireless Driver issue – Ubuntu has gone up to 9.10 beta so I thought there would be no more driver issue, but I was wrong! tell me, what is the use of a router if wi-fi is not working? I searched on internet and found a WiFi driver. It started working.

Solution -

I followed instructions recommended by one of an Ubuntu user in ubuntu forum.

Note : This article is a result of my own experiences with Ubuntu. It doesn’t mean, you’ll also face the same issues. Actually previously Blogger was not of Google, it was started by a tiny company in San Francisco called Pyra Labs in August of 1999. When it became popular Google bought it from Pyra Labs, you can read the full story here.

As Google bought it, it started adding some cool features to it and custom domain is one of its best feature, but most of bloggers who started blogging on sub-domain (blog.blogspot.com) don’t know how to setup custom domain for their blog, as there are many benefits of using custom domain starting from branding and later on SEO.

Watch this video tutorial to know – How to setup custom domain for Blogger blogs.

There are some bloggers who are blogging on WordPress, but they don’t even know what is SEO. So today I decided to write an article on SEO and WordPress optimization for better SEO. Before writing any tip, let me explain you first what is it.

Search engine optimization is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via natural search results. Typically, the earlier a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence.

How can we optimize our WordPress for it?

WordPress software is said to be optimized for SEO by default, but though there are some better optimizations which can be use to boost search engine results, in this article I am going to explain you all common SEO optimization tips.

Title of post – The post title of your article should be always user- friendly and catchy so that who so ever reads the title get attracted towards it.

Meta Title – There is a little difference between the title and the meta title. Title is the heading of your article or post while meta title is the title you want search engine to show in search results.

Description – Your post/article summary or discription should be catchy because most of readers first read the summary or description of the article, then if they find the summary interesting, then only they read full article.

Keywords – Keywords should be properly used depending upon your article’s summary as they will be targeting the search results.

Content – Some newbies thing that posting often will them to increase their site traffic, they are wrong!. There is no use of writing spam or review posts as no one will like to read your post, but if your content is nice or interesting, then everyone will like to read it which will help you increase your traffic so always try to write interesting articles.

Plug-ins for SEO Optimization

Hope till now you guys may be familiar with WordPress plug-ins as I told you about them in “How to install WordPress plug-ins” post of “Learn WordPress in three days” series, don’t worry if you are yet not familiar with it, I am again going to explain you.

Plugins are PHP based tools which extend and expand the functionality of WordPress. You can add plugins by just uploading it to your wp-content > plugins folder that is in your WordPress directory. More info.

All in one SEO pack - Its a nice plug-in with inbuilt option for entire required field for SEO optimization of any post or page.

Socialize – The plugin was designed to make it very easy to manage. Instead of adding new meta keys, like other plugins require, there is an additional panel in your posts admin page that allows you to select which bookmarks you want to display. This is to encourage people to choose more relevant bookmarks for their posts.

SEO optimized themes -

There are some WordPress themes available on triple W which are already fully SEO optimized, you don’t need to do anything with those themes they will automatically do what is necessary.

Swift theme - This theme is mainly aimed at blogs running on low server resources and for those who like clean and simple designs. It’s always good have themes like SWIFT at your disposal so that you can easily switch to it if you are expecting a spike in traffic from social media sites.

Sahina Tech – Its 3-columns simple, clean theme with lightning fast speed., we can add an image on each post.. we can put anything anywhere on front page just like Digital Inspiration and best thing is that it use only 4 images so it’s blazing fast!

I’m extremely sorry for not writing any article these days and wanna say thanks to Dinesh for writing post – “How to know IP address of your friend with you are chatting“. Today in this post I’m gonna tell you all how to create a chat bot in less than 5 minutes, Hope you know what a chat bot is…If don’t know let me explain you first.

A chatterbot (or chatbot) is a type of conversational agent, a computer program designed to simulate an intelligent conversation with one or more human users via auditory or textual methods. The computer programmes are also known as Artificial Conversational Entity (ACE) and, though many appear to be intelligently interpreting the human input prior to providing a response, most chatterbots simply scan for keywords within the input and pull a reply with the most matching keywords or the most similar wording pattern from a local database. Chatterbots may also be referred to as talk bots, chat bots, or chatterboxe s- source Wiki

To make a chat bot just follow these simple steps :

Open note pad

Copy and paste this code in notepad -

dim fname

fname=inputbox("Heya! Whats your name?")

fname=inputbox("Hey thanks for downloading bot!")

fname=inputbox("So wassup?..Am just chating!")

fname=inputbox("Really? whts your favourite food?")

fname=inputbox("Hmm...I like pizza")

fname=inputbox("hmm...gotta go bye tc")

Now click on file -> save as -> save the file with .vbs extension and choose save as all files and click on ok button.

Now after saving check it!

That’s all! You made a chat bot!

If you want to convert your vbs file into exe or bat (to give a professional chat bot look) just download Xneat application builder.
