Blogger vs WordPress. Who’s better?

Well, I have already covered some series of tutorial on WordPress, reviewed some plug-ins and wrote an article about Google’s Blogger in which I gave you all brief information about Google and a video tutorial to set up custom domain, but never discussed the main differences between Blogger and WordPress. So in this post I am going to differentiate between them.

WordPress

WordPress is a simple to use, but powerful blogging software that makes blogging an easy and enjoyable task that is built on PHP and MySQL and licensed under the GPL. WordPress is built in a way that even a novice Blogger can use it or even a Programmer can use it. WordPress has three parts -

  1. WordPress.com – It enables you all to get a free  blog with limited resources.
  2. WordPress MU – MU is new version of WordPress with which we can easily create thousand of blogs inside a single blog.
  3. WordPress.org – I think I have already told you all about it in above stanzas. :-P

Blogger

Blogger is free blogging tool from Google, if you are completely new to blogging, best advice is to create a free account on it, grab free blog and start blogging because it is owned by Google so getting on the search engines seem to be easier and hosting is also always free even if you own a custom domain. Later on if you ever plan to shift to WordPress from Blogger we can help you out for free. Actually previously Blogger was not of Google, it was started by a tiny company in San Francisco called Pyra Labs in August of 1999. When it became popular Google bought it from Pyra Labs, you can read the full story here.

So what you think about WordPress and Blogger? Who’s better? Do let us know.
